Reese Witherspoon started seriously pursuing an acting career after she enrolled in Stanford University. Early successes in the field of critical success included parts in movies like Pleasantville and Election but it was her performance as Elle Woods in the box office smash Legally Blonde that marked a pivotal moment in her career.
